Equality and Diversity: Gender Equality
Definition: Sex is a person's biology at birth
Gender: some legislation uses the word 'gender' to refer to male or female instead of sex.
The Equality Act 2010 requires public bodies to treat all people fairly and equally. NHS Grampian must ensure that there is no sex discrimination in the health care services it provides, nor in the recruitment, selection and management of NHS Grampian staff and prospective employees.
The NHS Grampian Diversity Working Group are responsible for driving forward the sex equality agenda within NHS Grampian.
The sex equality work of NHS Grampian is detailed in the NHS Grampian Equality Outcomes and 'Mainstreaming' Reports. Information on sex equality within NHS Grampian is found in the Equality and Diversity Workforce Monitoring Report and the Equal pay report. The most up to date versions of these reports are available elsewhere on this website.
