Equality and Diversity: Translation services
Definition: translation is changing the written word from one language to another.
In terms of translated material, there are three main categories:
Personal Information
On average, we translate 3 pieces of personal healthcare information per week. These tend to be short clinical reports and letters.
Key Pieces of Local Health Care information
This comprises local healthcare information which is known to be of general interest, and is therefore translated in advance of any requests being received. This includes information on specific services or treatments. The range of this information is being expanded on regularly. Some of these items can be viewed on our website by clicking on the 'Other Languages' tab at the top of the first page.
NHS Grampian, will produce any of its published material, upon request, in any other language, in compliance with the Equality Act 2010.
Filling Gaps in the information available
Regular liaison between NHS Grampian and our recent migrant workers and their families, can result in healthcare information gaps being identified. Any information gaps are filled on an ongoing basis.
