Equality and Diversity: Sexual Orientation
Sexual orientation work within NHS Grampian is taken forward by the NHS Grampian Diversity Working Group. This is a multi-disciplinary group, which includes representatives of a number of local gender and sexual orientation interest groups.
The NHS Grampian Diversity Working Group monitors sexual orientation equality both in the services provided within NHS Grampian.
The Equality Act 2010, outlawed discrimination in employment and vocational training on the grounds of sexual orientation. The Human Rights Act 1998, Article 14, gives people the right to protection from discrimination in relation to all the other rights guaranteed under the Convention.
In practice, there are many areas of synergy between gender and sexual orientation, hence both fall within the remit of the NHS Grampian Diversity Working Group.
