Antiracism Plans Guidance for Health Boards
Antiracism Plans - Guidance for Health Boards (Scottish Government 2024)
In 2023, NHS Grampian laid out early ambitions in its Antiracism Plan, which was designed to start conversations within our workforce and our wider partners, and initiate a set of actions that would set NHS Grampian on course to becoming an antiracist organisation.
This Plan, along with our associated activities such as our antiracism video statement, our celebrating diversity festival and all the actions associated with progressing the Plan helped to make NHS Grampian the first actively antiracist regional Health Board in Scotland, and we are very proud of that.
Since the launch of our Plan, there has been significant progress in NHS Grampian and from all Health Boards in Scotland, including fantastic collective efforts toward shared antiracism ambitions.
In September 2024, The Scottish Government assisted in this by producing Antiracism Guidance for Boards which lays out the expectations for all Health Boards in relation to the development of antiracism plans, including actions that will help make the systemic shift required.
NHS Grampian has already made good progress towards some of the ambitions identified in the guidance, but as we already knew, there is always so much more to do.
For that reason we will now progress the next stages of our antiracism work through the Scottish Government Guidance which will require reviewed oversight and alternative methods of presentation, and we will update our website with further information as it becomes available.
In the meantime, the commitment to antiracism we have made in our Antiracism Plan remains as firm as ever, and actions we have achieved will provide the strong foundations that our future antiracism work will be built upon.
