NHS Grampian - It's ok to talk about race
This film was produced as a training aid for all NHS Grampian staff on the difficult topic of racism. Our people, like every organisation across the UK, sadly encounter racism at work and in their wider lives. That simply isn't right.
We ALL have a duty to stand up to racism and call it out wherever we encounter it. As Adam Coldwells, our Deputy Chief Executive, says in the intro to the video, NHS Grampian will stand shoulder to shoulder with you in doing so and take robust action where it occurs.
This film features the brave and frank experiences of three of our colleagues - Sneh, Sesi and Bianca - but we know there are more. If you experience racism or if you need ANY help, advice or support with an issue related to race, know that you are not alone.
Our dedicated equality and diversity team, our H&R Hub - and your colleagues - are all available to lend their support to you, confidentially and respectfully.
You can speak to Equality and Diversity on Extension 552245 or Extension 51116 or if your prefer contact them by email at: gram.edincidentreporting@nhs.scot
You can also speak to your line manager, Occupational Health, Human Resources, a trusted friend, a confidential contact, a trade union or staff side representative.
"In Conversation with..." NHS Grampian Chief Executive, Caroline Hiscox is joined by Sneh Banik, Consultant at ARI and NHS Grampian diversity champion, where they discuss the hugely detrimental effects of racism and the challenges it poses us as a healthcare organisation.
Featured on STV - NHS launches campaign to tackle racism against staff. Figures suggest more than three quarters of NHS staff across Scotland have experienced some form of racism.
