DDAS - Digital Dermatology Appointment Service
The Scottish digital dermatology appointment service (DDAS) is an asynchronous virtual dermatology clinic that allows patients to submit images of their skin condition, along with answers to specific questions, to a dermatology specialist.
NHS Grampian joined forces with NHS Forth Valley and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in December 2019 to evaluate the solution, which was developed by a small Edinburgh based business, StormID. In NHS Grampian, the service was delivered by consultants and mostly used for returning patients.
All Dermatology Outpatient Departments in NHS Grampian now use these digital appointments as part of their service, allowing patients to interact remotely via an inbuilt messaging service with their clinician to receive their ongoing skin care needs.
The DDAS is integrated into the NHS Grampian care pathways for skin lesions, general dermatology, biologics and isotretinoin prescribing, and paediatrics.
