Moray Community Appointment Day

Patients have praised NHS Grampian’s first Community Appointment Day – after more than 120 people were seen at the event.

Focusing on supporting people with joint, bone and muscle problems, physiotherapists, podiatrists, occupational therapists and nutrition and dietetic specialists were on hand at Moray Sports Centre, in Elgin in September 2024 to help tackle waiting lists.

Charities and community groups were also present to advise those attending how they can support them.

The event focused on patients who were waiting for treatment, to help them be seen sooner and improve their quality of life.

Those invited to the event were given a one-to-one assessment before having an opportunity to speak with third sector groups who support people with issues including mental health, the cost of living, arthritis, home energy costs and fitness.

Strategic development manager, Luan Grugeon said: “This is part of NHS Grampian’s Putting People First approach which aims to enable people to live well for as long as possible, I am delighted to hear the positive comments from people who attended.”

Interim locality manager, Laura Sutherland added: “I’d like to thank the patients, staff and all our third sector partners and volunteers who worked together to make this event such a success. We have gathered feedback to help us learn and improve as we deliver more of these community-based events in the future.”
