Integration of Health and Social Care
The Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act 2014 was an enabler for greater collaboration between health and social care services and saw the formal delegation of a significant proportion of community health services, such as primary care, mental health and others to Integration Joint Boards and Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs) from April 2016. National Care Service (NCS)
The Scottish Government has committed to create a new National Care Service (NCS) to deliver services founded on fairness, equality and human rights following an Independent Review of Adult Social Care chaired by Derek Feeley (February 2021). It will be the most significant public sector reform since the creation of the NHS and will set out a roadmap for the future of care provision in Scotland. We will continue to work with our partners and colleagues over the next few years to support the implementation of the NCS. Please see links below for further information.
