Call for volunteer drivers

Could you help transport people to their COVID vaccine appointment?

A Grampian-wide call for volunteer community transport drivers to support the COVID vaccination programme has launched today.

Community transport is playing a vital role helping those who need help to travel to their COVID vaccination appointments. We are receiving an increasing number of requests for help across Grampian and need more volunteer drivers.

The recruitment drive hopes to attract volunteers able to drive their own vehicle. The Royal Voluntary Service will manage volunteers and assist the efforts being made to support NHS Grampian and Health and Social Care Partnerships.

We need drivers who live throughout Grampian, but we particularly need drivers living in or near Buckie, Turriff, Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Banchory, Insch, Speyside, and Elgin Area.

Volunteers will receive full training and a risk assessment, as well as reimbursement of costs incurred.

A variety of partners support the initiative as part of the Grampian-wide Health and Transport Action Plan (HTAP).

This recruitment drive will help people attend their COVID vaccination appointment. Vaccination is our best way out of the pandemic, it’s so important that everyone can attend their vaccination when they receive their appointment notification.

Volunteers have made a massive contribution to support people to stay safe and well during the pandemic, they have been a lifeline for many in our communities.
