Two of four operating theatres as well as a dedicated recovery area and the hospital’s birthing pool were quickly brought back in use.

Air sampling is required in the two other operating theatres and work is underway and ongoing.

Theatre teams and specialists are continuing to work together to ensure all that can be safely delivered on site at Dr Gray’s goes ahead, as well as working with colleagues at other facilities to make alternative arrangements for treatment based on clinical priorities.

Dr Gray’s Hospital General Manager Alasdair Pattinson commented: “Teams have been working hard to get facilities back into use as quickly as possible. Air sampling takes time but we are making steady progress and we look forward to all theatres being back in operation once again.

“Thanks again to colleagues for all your hard work and members of the community too for bearing with us at this difficult time.”
