NHS Grampian Board Meeting - Thursday 11 April 2024
Published: 09/04/2024 09:20The board of NHS Grampian will meet this Thursday (11 April), with infrastructure investment, the joint health protection plan, and the corporate parenting three-year action plan among the items for discussion.
In his report, interim Chief Executive Adam Coldwells will confirm the board’s finance plan has been submitted to Scottish Government and their feedback is awaited. He will further advise efficiency savings, such as vacancy management and switching to cheaper generic medication, are projected to save £36M in the 2024/25 financial year. Adam will also highlight the board’s ambition to begin commissioning the new ANCHOR centre this winter, with The Baird Family Hospital expected to follow in summer 2025. There will be a formal update on the Baird & ANCHOR project at the next public board meeting.
The infrastructure investment plan for 2024-2029 will note constraints in capital funding in the coming years. The plan outlines a focus on maintenance in the short term, with available funding focused on that. The report will also highlight progress on the North-east Scotland & Northern Isles Integrated Mortuary. This facility is currently under construction on the Foresterhill Health Campus and remains on track to be completed in the 2024/25 financial year.
During the meeting, the board will be asked to endorse the joint health protection plan, produced in partnership with Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, and Moray Councils. This is a requirement of the Public Health (Scotland) Act; the plan lists several health protection challenges, including the climate emergency, widening health inequalities, and infectious diseases.
The corporate parenting action plan is periodically presented to board members for their review and to provide assurance the board is meeting its responsibilities in this area.
Board members will also receive the regular updates from local forums, committees, and Integration Joint Boards.
