For information on how to access medical advice out with these times, visit our out of hours page.
Disabled Access
We have a disabled toilet on the premises; however, we do not have any automatic doors. If you need assistance to access the building, please contact reception on: 0345 375 2020 who will assist you with your entry.
Appointments
All consultations are by appointment only and are usually for 10 - 15 minutes. If you require a double appointment to address multiple or complex problems, please mention this at the time of booking.
Booking an Appointment
To make an appointment you can come in or telephone the surgery on 0345 375 2020 during opening hours, or book via our online service. Please make a separate appointment for each patient needing to be seen. If you cannot keep your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. When you arrive for your appointment, please remember to report to reception.
Patients are encouraged to see the same doctor throughout an episode of illness. If a doctor is absent for any reason, the other doctors in our team will usually cover their duties in their absence. If we cannot provide adequate cover in this way, we endeavour to employ a locum doctor.
Urgent Problems
There are always some appointments set aside for patients requiring urgent access to a GP. Please inform the receptionist if you think your medical problem is urgent. The receptionist will need to take some details about your problem to ensure that urgent issues are managed within an appropriate timescale and in an appropriate manner. Depending on the issue, you may be given a face-to-face or telephone appointment, or the information you give may be passed to the duty doctor for them to decide how best to help you.
Telephone Advice
We offer telephone appointments at the end of most GP clinics. These consultations can be suitable for telephone advice or discussion of results. We aim to call within an hour of your telephone appointment time. Please keep your telephone line free from other calls if at all possible and call back if you do not receive the call.
Home Visits
Home visits are only available to patients who are housebound because of illness or disability. Please remember that several patients can be seen at the practice in the time that it takes to make a home visit.
If you feel a home visit is absolutely necessary please phone, if possible, before 10am except in urgent situations (for all emergency situations, please contact the Emergency Services on 999). Please give the receptionist as much information as you can. You may receive a call from the Duty Doctor to clarify your need, the urgency of your problem and your location.Â
After discharge from hospital
If you are given a letter for your GP after a hospital admission or outpatient appointment, please deliver this to the surgery as soon as possible so that we can arrange any necessary continuing care. The doctors do not routinely visit patients after discharge from hospital but if you feel you need to speak to a doctor, please telephone the surgery.
Results of tests
Please contact reception between 2pm and 5pm at least 2 days after your test (the results of some tests take much longer than this however). If the result has been reviewed by a doctor, you will be advised whether it is necessary to see the doctor or obtain a prescription. If your doctor has advised you to return for follow up after a test, please book this appointment at the time you book your test.
How to register with the Practice
To register, you will need to complete a registration form and health questionnaire, available from reception. When returning the forms, please bring photographic ID with you, if you have any.
Patients are registered with the practice and not an individual GP. For administrative reasons your medical card will be issued in the name of one of the doctors; however you can, at any time, express a preference for a particular doctor, for either all of your medical needs or on a case-by-case basis. However not all doctors in the practice provide all services and specific doctors may not be immediately available.
Practice Boundary
The practice is happy to look after patients within the practice boundary. Please tell us if you move house, even if it is only temporary.
Temporary Residents
If you have a visitor staying with you who requires urgent medical attention, they can register with us as a temporary resident. Please ask at reception for the appropriate form.
Chaperones
If you require an intimate examination, it is good practice to offer for a chaperone to be present. If a chaperone is required but not available at the time of your appointment, we can arrange an alternative appointment at a mutually convenient time.
Interpreters
If you require an interpreter, please let the reception team know as far in advance of your appointment as you can so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
Medical Students
From time to time, medical or nursing students are attached to the practice so that we can provide them with first-hand experience of general practice.
Part of this experience is best gained by seeing patients under the supervision of a qualified doctor or nurse during consultations. You will be asked for your permission to see a student or to have a student sitting in on your consultation and you always have the right to refuse, if you wish.
Online Services
You can now book routine appointments and request repeat prescriptions online. For security reasons, to be able to use this service, you must first register your interest with the practice. This can be done either by picking up a form from reception or by downloading the form from our Online Services page.
The practice makes good use of its email system. However, we are sorry that we do not, at present, accept emails from patients regarding requests for appointments, prescriptions or enquiries regarding medical problems.
