Prescriptions
Requesting Prescriptions
If you are on long-term medication and require repeat prescriptions, we would prefer you to use the right hand side of your prescriptions (which lists the medication you can order). Just tick the relevant boxes and hand it in to reception. Alternatively, you can use our online service, or your pharmacy may be able to order your regular medicines on your behalf. Contact your local pharmacy for more information.
If you wish to request a prescription not on this list, or prefer to phone to re-order your medicines, please call us between 10am - 12pm and 2pm - 5pm.
Please allow 2 working days for your prescription to be processed. Prescriptions for homeopathic or Anthroposophic medicines may not be listed on the computer system so it may take up to 5 days to process these prescriptions, which will usually be written by the GP who initiated the medicine.
For medicines which aren't on your medication list, please provide information on when you had this medicine previously and why you need it again, or book a telephone consultation with a GP to discuss it. We may still need to speak to you to assess the safety and need for the medicine.
Collecting prescriptions
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions patients are unable to collect prescriptions from the practice. We will arrange for any prescriptions to be sent to one of the three local pharmacies or if this is not suitable you can make alternative arrangements with the reception.
Medicines in Scotland
Healthcare Improvement Scotland have published a useful A5 booklet entitled Medicines in Scotland: What?s the right treatment for you?
This A5 booklet focuses on the patient journey starting with a consultation and explains how healthcare professionals decide whether to prescribe a medicine and if so, which to prescribe.
