This version presents the latest information and sets the policy requirements for training and qualified non-medical prescribers in NHS Grampian to promote safe and effective prescribing. It addresses parameters of practice, and arrangements for initial and continuing education to support competence in the prescribing role as well as the responsibilities and accountabilities of all key stakeholders.

Where it is not reasonably practicable for prescribers in community setting/primary care to be aligned with GP Practice codes, consideration can be given to initiating a virtual practice. Examples of existing ones are the diabetes specialist nurses and podiatry. The process and requirements necessary for a new virtual practice to be implemented are provided:
