Repairs
As well as providing a clinical assessment and provision service, the Wheelchair Service also provides a repair service for existing users that includes a workshop on site and a number of vans that travel throughout the Grampian area for local repairs. Annually technicians carry out over 4000 repairs, deliveries and collections, as well as over 2000 additional workshop requests.
When repairs or replacement are needed please contact the Wheelchair Service as soon as possible. In most cases a technician will visit within a couple of days to carry out the work required. In some cases it may be necessary to order parts externally or collect the wheelchair to carry out work on site in the workshop depending on what is required, and this can obviously lengthen the overall time the wheelchair is out of action. The Wheelchair Service will pay for repairs and replacements due to fair wear and tear, or due to circumstances beyond reasonable control whilst the wheelchair, buggy or accessory is being used within the UK. Without prior approval from the Wheelchair Service minor repairs up to £15 may be carried out for a wheelchair or buggy. Emergency repairs may also be carried out when away from home. Receipted accounts for such repairs should be sent to The Manager - Mobility & Rehabilitation Service for reimbursement.
