Before you apply for research ethics
Identify the ethical issues of your study while developing your protocol. You may find it helpful to:
1. Attend training, you can find links to local and national events on our Training and Resources (link] page.
2. Access guidance for ethical approval on the Health Research Authority Web Site
3. The ethics application form takes you through a structured process for ethical review of your research, so take a look at the electronic version of the form 'IRAS' and click on the information buttons for specific items.
4. Talk through you application or send a draft to the Scientific Officer at the North of Scotland Research ethics Service.
Contact your Research Sponsor within the Research Governance or Research and Development department for your employer or University before you apply. For commercial research the sponsor may be company funding the research.
