NHS Grampian Bereavement Support
Our staff have an important role in supporting those who have been bereaved and NHS Grampian wants to do everything it can to support families, friends and carers at this difficult time. With this in mind, we have developed the NHS Grampian Bereavement Pack to help staff provide a professional and compassionate approach.
The pack contains a number of items to help staff hand over a patient’s belongings sensitively as well as a booklet that offers some practical advice on next steps and where to get support. The booklet within the pack is available in English as well as Polish, Lithuanian, Romanian, Russian and Arabic.
An online digital version of the NHS Grampian booklet ‘When someone has died – Information for you’ (pdf) is available.
The information in the online version is checked every six months and updated. Please note, due to packs being produced many months in advance, printed versions may show slightly older content.
If you are struggling with grief as a result of bereavement, please use the link above to access a digital version of the booklet to find information on the support available to you.
Hospital Chaplains are always ready to offer support at times of bereavement. Ask the ward to contact the hospital chaplain or call the Chaplains' Office at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Tel:01224 553316 Monday-Friday 9.00 am-4.30 pm for assistance.
