Welcome to our website!

The Gastroenterology Unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is the main GI referral centre for Grampian and surrounding regions.

The unit consists of a modern 29-bedded ward, emergency endoscopy unit close to the ward, an elective endoscopy unit with 3 rooms, and a GI physiology lab.

What do we do?

We manage patients with decompensated liver disease and hold specialist hepatitis B and C, autoimmune hepatitis and cirrhosis clinics.

We provide care in the management of inflammatory bowel disease through the Inflammatory Bowel Disease team, ranging from stable out patients to complex individual management issues including biological therapies, timing of surgery, nutrition and pregnancy.

We deal with the management of patients with eating disorders through our nutrition service.
