Proposed application for a New Pharmacy at Berryden
 
NHS Grampian has been consulting with Berryden Pharmacy (proposed name), who have applied to open a new pharmacy at Berryden Retail Park, Aberdeen, AB25 3SG.
 
When a new pharmacy application is made, the local Health Board must assess if the residents where the new pharmacy is proposed to open, feel a new pharmacy is necessary or desirable.
 
Berryden Pharmacy has defined the community area they would serve as being; Cattofield Road to the north, George Street to the east, Hutcheon Street to the south and Westburn Road to the west.  
 
Berryden Pharmacy plans to provide the following services should the application be granted:
 
Pharmacy First Plus (Diagnosis, Examination and Treatment of short term illness such as tonsillitis, ear infections and skin infections) Pharmacy First; Free Delivery Service; Free Prescription Collection; Blood pressure, heart rate and BMI Service; Shingles Treatment; Hay fever Treatment; Emergency Hormonal Contraception; Urinary Tract Infection Treatment; Inhaler Recycling; Insulin Pen Recycling; Smoking Cessation Service; Free Sanitary Towel Provision; Flu Vaccination Service; Malaria Prevention; Substance Misuse Service; Naloxone Supply; Hepatitis C Testing and Treatment; Medicine Waste Service; Gluten Free Food Service; Stoma Care; Emergency Supply of Medication (Unscheduled Care); Dosette Box Provision; MAR Chart Provision (Medicine Administration Record); Free Text Messaging Service
 
Berryden Pharmacy plans to provide these services at the following times:
 
Monday to Friday: 9am – 8pm
Saturday and Sunday: 9am – 5pm 
 
To assess the need for a new pharmacy in Berryden, NHS Grampian and Berryden Pharmacy are required to undertake a joint public consultation to:
 
a. Assess the current provision of pharmacy services in the proposed area and whether it is adequate.
 
b. Establish the level of support from residents in the proposed area for the application
 
People who may be affected and wish to be involved are invited to provide their views in respect of:
 
1. The pharmacy services being offered by the proposed applicant.
 
2. Any gaps in existing pharmacy service provision.
 
3. If the pharmacy services being offered by the proposed applicant would work alongside and fit in with other NHS services already provided in that area.
 
4. If the pharmacy services being offered by the proposed applicant would negatively or positively impact on other NHS services in the area.
 
5. The community area being proposed by the new pharmacy.
 
6. The location and proposed opening hours of the new pharmacy.
 
The consultation report and findings will be made available to interested parties.
