Volunteering in NHS Grampian
Are you friendly, dependable and interested in working as part of a team within NHS Grampian?
Do you have a couple of hours a week to spare?
Volunteering is a rewarding way to spend your spare time and we’d love to hear from you!
Did you know? … People who volunteer:
- have an increased sense of well-being
- feel that they are contributing to someone else’s well-being
- participate in a wider social life
- increase their knowledge of health
- learn new skills
- get relevant training
- learn from and are supported by NHS staff
- gain experience in an NHS environment
Routine voluntary services across NHS Grampian were suspended in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic. We are now looking to remobilise our voluntary services across the organisation and are seeking volunteers to help support our service across Grampian.
Our current opportunities can be found via this page and will be updated on a regular basis as we introduce new volunteering opportunities. We have no upper age limit and a minimum age requirement of 16 years of age for most opportunities.

Training
The core values of NHS Grampian are Caring, Listening, Improving.
Embedding these values in everything that we do is an important part of our vision to improve health and reduce inequalities; deliver high quality care in the right place; involve our patients, public, staff and partners; and develop and empower our staff. Providing appropriate training and support to our volunteers underpins those values and helps us provide a rewarding volunteering experience within a safe environment for staff and volunteers to provide the highest standard of care to our patients.
Volunteers will be expected to complete any training relevant to their role and in return they will be supported through induction and orientation and have the support of a nominated Volunteer Co-ordinator throughout their placement. Learning will be offered in a variety of methods, some online and our colleagues in Learning & Development are available to support any volunteer that may require additional support to complete any aspect of learning.
