If you would like to nominate one of our Nurses or Midwives* for providing excellent care to you or a loved one, you can nominate them here for a DAISY Award.
* This includes ALL registered nurses and midwives who are employed by NHS Grampian or the Health and Social Care Partnerships, including (but not limited to) health visitors, prison nurses, district nurses who visit people's homes, and school nurses, as well as the nurses and midwives you may meet on our wards across Grampian. What is the DAISY Award?
The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is a global recognition programme that recognises and celebrates the skilled, compassionate care Nurses and Midwives deliver daily. The programme is delivered by the not-for-profit DAISY Foundation.

The Award is an opportunity for patients or their loved ones to say 'thank you' to a Nurse or Midwife who provided exceptional care.
Why is the DAISY Award important?
J. Patrick Barnes' family founded the DAISY Foundation after he died in 1999 from complications of the autoimmune disease immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). They were deeply appreciative of the kindness and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family while he was in the hospital. When he died, they wanted to say "thank you" to nurses in a very public way.
How we celebrate our nominees and honourees
Each DAISY Award recipient will be recognised at a public ceremony in their place of work, where they will receive a DAISY Award pin badge, a certificate outlining their nomination, a hand carved stone statue entitled a Healer’s Touch and some sweet treats.

Q: Can I nominate a whole team?
A: No, we are just accepting nominations for individuals at present.
Q: How are the nomination forms processed and voted for?
A: The DAISY admin team collate the nominations sent each month and the nominee’s details are anonymised before being sent for consideration by the review panel, consisting of NHS Grampian staff members.
