Equality and Diversity

Equality and Diversity is about treating people fairly, both in the services we provide and within NHS Grampian. Equality in the workplace means fairness and equal opportunities for job applicants and employees (i.e. training, promotion). Diversity is recognising the range of people and valuing those differences. When everyone feels valued, an inclusive workplace can eliminate bullying, harassment, discrimination and other prohibited conducts. Under the Equality Act 2010 a person has legal protection against discrimination arising from one or more of the following "protected characteristics":

  • Race
  • Disability
  • Sexual orientation
  • Religion or Belief
  • Sex (male or female)
  • Gender reassignment
  • Age
  • Pregnancy and maternity
  • Marriage and civil partnership
