Staff Equalities Network Marking '16 Days of Action 2024'

Understanding Domestic Abuse, the legal context and the Court process
Thursday December 12th 2pm - 4pm on MS Teams

With special Guests - Vicki Kerr, Procurator Fiscal Depute (prosecutor) Grampian Sheriff Courts along with colleagues from Grampian Womens Aid

This year, NHS Grampian Staff Equalities Network is supporting '16 Days of Action 2024' which is a campaign that aims to raise awareness of violence against women and children, The campaign will run from November 25, which is International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, until Human Rights Day on December 10.

In addition to the programme of events taking place locally,, The NHS Grampian Staff Equalities Network is delighted to welcome Vicki Kerr, who is a Procurator Fiscal Depute (prosecutor) for the Grampian Sheriff Courts, along with colleagues from Grampian Women’s Aid.

Using their years of experience working with domestic abuse cases, Vicki and colleagues will guide us through a unique and interactive session to develop participants’ awareness of issues surrounding domestic abuse.

We will examine what exactly constitutes domestic abuse within a legal context.  Together we will also explore the court process relating to domestic abuse, and the ways in which NHS Grampian colleagues may become involved in identifying when there may be a concern. Finally, we will cover risk factors and warning signs that someone may be experiencing domestic abuse, and how you may be able to help them access appropriate support.

This session will be of interest to all colleagues, and we hope you will be able to join us for what will offer a unique perspective and insight into this important issue.  We are very grateful to Vicki Kerr and Grampian Womens Aid for agreeing to bring their professional expertise and knowledge to the Staff Equalities Network.
